Rajasthan United are assembling a squad of youngsters to get go for another season
Preparing for the new season, I-League club Rajasthan United have signed the current India U-19 International Kongjembam Surendra Singh on a four-year deal, a source tracking the developments confirmed.
Being right-footed, Surendra primarily plays as a left-back and on occasions, a left-winger. Before representing India at the U-19 level, he was called up for the U-17 squad in 2021-22. He spent his U-15 days with TRAU FC.
Rajasthan United are once again geared up for the Durand Cup where last season, they stunned the Indian Football fraternity by making it past the group stage in the group consisting of East Bengal, Mumbai City FC, and ATK Mohun Bagan. Young starlets like Gyamar Nikum were the highlights from that side. One year is a good amount of time and plenty of changes have taken place since then.
A few players went to ISL. Nikum and Hardik Bhatt moved to eventual shield winners Mumbai City FC in January this year. There have been a few defensive incoming in the form of Mohit Verito and Sairut Kima.
United are grouped in Group F with Odisha FC, Indian Army, and debutants Bodoland FC.
