After the Indian National team’s recent success in SAFF Championship 2023, the sport is getting recognition from all over the country. Multiple popular news agencies have taken note of the success of the Blue Tigers. In this context, Igor Stimac has been to multiple interviews highlighting the importance of a longer camp before the upcoming Asian Cup 2023 in January.
In one such interview with Revsportz, while answering Boria Majumder when asked about his future with the Indian team beyond February 2024, the Croatian said,“ I was very sincere talking and speaking loudly about everything not trying to be arrogant not trying to give lectures to anyone but not many were listening what I was saying and I was surprised because you contracted me to help but instead of following me and the advice in a better speed than it was somehow most of the people wanted to bring me to your level instead of following me to the upper level of football and that’s football World higher level of football so now when we have point where everybody is recognizing the hard work when the puzzle is becoming visible out of the hard work we were producing”.
“Are we going to enter phase-2 together talking about four years of work and then after that seeing what’s going to happen, I’m ready, I’m focused, I’m available, if that’s the path we’re going to take I’m ready and open to discuss. We need to help things very clear very straight between us and see where we’re going to go”, said Stimac confirming his willingness to help India reach further heights in football.
“I promised a presentation to the president about my four years of work, for them to understand everything, how it started and what was going on. I finished a few more documents that will be presented to them, he will have an opportunity to present this to the technical committee of Indian football and then we can sit down together and discuss that it’s really important to start talking and working on it now in next five days, you have everything finished which I’m going to send officially and request an urgent meeting about the future,” the 55-year-old Croatian added explaining the process of the Phase-2 discussion.
The ball is now in the federation’s court on whether they want the World Cup bronze medal winner to continue or bring a new face for the manager’s job.
