Both teams managed to share points to kick off the Group E match-up in Guwahati
Delhi FC the newly promoted team from the second division I-League, makes their Indian Oil Durand Cup debut against 2021-22 Indian Super League (ISL) champions Hyderabad FC. The First game of the day and kicking off the Group E opener.
The pitch was completely waterlogged in the first half but Delhi FC managed to lead the game later on in the Second-Half the pitch looked much better to play on as the rain had stopped and Hyderabad managed to level up with the opposition after a wonderful goal from the corner. Delhi FC had one more final chance in the final minute but there was nothing to separate the two sides and the game eventually ended 1-1 between the two teams.
First-Half
In the 6th minute, Himanshu scored after a mistake by the Hyderabad FC’s keeper Gurmeet Singh puts his side ahead early in the game.
But in the 28th minute, Silva misses an open sitter and wasted Hyderabad’s best chance to tie up with Delhi.
Hyderabad FC later on tried their best and has even come very close a couple of times but they seem not to get in the back of the net.
Just before half-time, Yasir provided a good-looking ball into the box but Silva couldn’t execute it well. After 2 mins Gurmeet pulls off an incredible save from Himanshu’s perfect shot which was surely on target.
Shortly after the corner from Delhi was cleared away, it was followed by another long ranger by Himanshu but this time his shot was off target.
Second-Half
Hyderabad FC kept their ball possession from the first half and came so close to scoring an equaliser with Aron D’Silva wasting another golden chance for the team.
In the 57th minute, Hyderabad FC’s Chhunga scores a perfect Olympic goal and levels the terms with Delhi. After 6mins, Yasir came with a brilliant run into the box but couldn’t send in the ball in the net.
Raju sends a ball into the box and Hyderabad’s Keeper Gurmeet spills it the first time but was able to recover the ball to make up for his mistake.
In the 66th minute, Hyderabad FC had a chance to lead the game after Yasir creates another goalscoring chance for chance Silva but the striker fails to convert it to take the lead.
The Nizams has looked better side in the second half and continued creating chance after chance but seem not to take the lead after a dominant second-half.
In the 90+2nd minute, Delhi FC was so close to the take the lead after Himanshu almost scored but missed the target by the slightest of margins of the goalpost.
