Bengaluru to Mumbai: Jayesh Rane joins Mumbai City FC on Loan for 2023-24

Mumbai City FC welcomes Jayesh Rane back to his Hometown

Jayesh Rane, the mysterious midfielder, has surprised everyone by joining Mumbai City FC on loan from Bengaluru FC. This unexpected move happened on a Saturday, leaving fans puzzled and excited.!

Rane had a tough time getting enough playing time at Bengaluru FC for the last two years since he moved there from ATK Mohun Bagan in 2021. But now, he’s back in Mumbai, his hometown, which is a surprising and happy homecoming for the 30-year-old player. He used to play for Mumbai FC until the 2015-16 season before joining Bengaluru FC.

One of the most memorable moments of Rane’s career was when he scored a crucial goal for Bengaluru FC in the semi-final of the Hero Super Cup last season against Jamshedpur FC. This, along with Sunil Chhetri’s goal, helped Bengaluru FC reach the final, even though they eventually lost to Odisha FC.

Rane achieved Indian Super League glory twice with ATK and experienced I-League success with Aizawl FC in 2017. He’s no stranger to international play either, having represented India at the U23 level in the AFC U23 Championship qualifiers.

Rane’s presence in the midfield adds experience and depth to Mumbai City FC. He is known for his ability to protect the defenders and move smoothly across the center of the field, making him a valuable addition to the team under Des Buckingham’s guidance.!

Interestingly, Rane is a product of the Mumbai FC academy, the forerunner of Mumbai City FC. Unfortunately, Mumbai FC ceased to exist in 2019, but Rane spent eight years there – four with the youth team and four with the senior team. During his time there, he played 64 matches and scored four goals, his highest tally for any club.

His move to Mumbai City FC gives Buckingham more options to rotate the midfielders, allowing the team to showcase better gameplay and counter the opponents effectively.

As Rane embarks on this new chapter in his career, Bengaluru FC will keep an eye on him, hoping to welcome him back after the 2023-24 season. It’s a mysterious and intriguing twist in this football story.
