NorthEast United FC has made an exciting addition to their squad ahead of the 2023-24 season with the signing of defender Michel Zabaco. The 34-year-old center-back brings with him a wealth of experience and a proven track record from his remarkable journey in the second and third tiers of Spanish football.
Hailing from Burgos, Spain, Zabaco’s football talents were evident from an early age, leading Atletico Madrid to recognize his potential and sign him up for their prestigious youth academy at the tender age of 16. Over the years, he demonstrated immense dedication and skill, rising through the ranks from the club’s C team to the Atletico Madrid B team.
In 2012, Zabaco made a crucial decision to join Almeria, where he fought tirelessly to secure a spot in the first team. His tenacity and defensive prowess played pivotal roles in securing promotions for his last three clubs, including his beloved hometown team, Burgos FC.
Notably, Zabaco boasts an impressive track record, having played an astounding 324 matches across different divisions in Spain and even finding the net 13 times, a rare feat for a defender.
Joining NorthEast United FC marks an exciting new chapter for Zabaco as he ventures outside of Spain for the first time in his illustrious career.
