Owen Coyle returns as Chennaiyin Head Coach

Chennaiyin FC joyfully confirms the long-awaited return of Owen Coyle as their head coach for the 2023-24 season, sealing the deal on a multi-year agreement.

Renowned Scottish coach Owen Coyle, a three-time Premier League Manager of the Month, has earned popularity in Indian football. His successful stint with Chennaiyin FC and Jamshedpur FC solidified his reputation.

Coyle’s tenure at Chennaiyin FC, with eight wins and an ISL final appearance, boosted his reputation as a respected coach.

Owen Coyle, at 57 years old, made history in the ISL by leading Jamshedpur FC to the league shield in the 2021-22 season with a record-breaking 43 points.

Owen Coyle excelled in top football leagues worldwide, including the English Premier League, promoting Burnley and leading Bolton to the FA Cup semi-finals. Furthermore, Coyle achieved notable success in Major League Soccer (MLS) as the head coach of the Houston Dynamo. His accomplishments span across different continents, highlighting his versatility and ability to excel in various footballing landscapes.

In his recent coaching role, Coyle successfully guided Queen’s Park Football Club to a notable third-place finish in the Scottish Championship league stage, enabling them to qualify for the promotion playoffs in their quest for the Scottish Premier Division.

Coyle had a prolific playing career as a striker in the English Premier League and the Scottish Premier League. He boasts an impressive tally of over 300 goals throughout his playing days.

He will join the camp in August as he fulfills his previous contractual obligations with Queens Park FC.
