Northeast United FC has completed the signing of Redeem Tlang from FC Goa ahead of the 2023-24 Hero Indian Super League season, which we can confirm from our side. The 28-year-old winger joins the Highlanders on a free transfer after his contract with the Gaurs expired at the end of May.
Tlang is a product of the Shillong Lajong youth academy and made his professional debut with the club in 2013. He moved to NorthEast United FC in 2018 and made 36 appearances in two seasons, scoring four times for the Highlanders. In 2020, he joined FC Goa and went on to make 40 appearances, scoring five goals and providing two assists. For a short stint, he was also loaned out to Odisha FC where he contributed 2 goals in 8 matches.
Redeem Tlang is a versatile winger who can play on either flank. He is known for his pace, dribbling skills, and crossing ability. He is also a good finisher and has a knack for scoring important goals. The return of Tlang is a major coup for Northeast United FC. He is a talented player who is familiar with the club and the ISL. He is also a fan favorite and his signing will boost the morale of the Highlanders squad.
The Highlanders had a terrible campaign last season managing to win only once and collect a meager 5 points throughout the competition. However, this season with the signing of Juan Pedro Benali for the managerial post, they will be looking to change their fortunes
