Punjab FC sign Prashanth K and Leon Augustine to pacify their squad ahead of the ISL

The wingers have a chance to establish themselves with Punjab FC

Prasanth Karuthadathkuni from Chennaiyin FC and Leon Augustine from Bengaluru FC have completed their move to the newly promoted Punjab FC. Both join as free agents. Prashanth, gifted with pace and dribbling, and Augustine’s dynamic wing play, versatility, and youthful energy, strengthen the team’s attacking options and inject enthusiasm into their gameplay. Punjab can rely on their skills and determination to succeed in the upcoming season.

The 26-year-old winger was a free agent after his contract with Chennaiyin FC ended on June 1 earlier this year. One of Prasanth’s most memorable moments in the club was when he scored at the Marina Arena against Bengaluru FC last season. Prasanth has been known to be a tricky customer on the flanks. His blistering pace, ability to make mazey runs, and utilization of pace are a few of the well-known facets of his gameplay. Prasanth can also operate on both flanks and will open the door to innumerable possibilities when it comes to shaping the lineup for the upcoming season.

Augustine joins the club after spending his career in Bengaluru FC from 2018 to 2023. His addition to the club provides a dynamic presence on the wings and enhances the team’s versatility in attack. Besides being known for his speed, agility, and excellent dribbling skills, Augustine brings a threat to opposing defences with his ability to take on defenders and create scoring opportunities. So far in his career, he scored 10 Goals in 59 Appearances.

Both players were unable to establish themselves at their previous clubs. Prasanth, despite spending a long spell of time at Kerala Blasters, never solidified himself as a starter. He left for Chennaiyin FC last season but same outcome.

Leon Augustine, on the other hand, moves out of Bengaluru FC for the first time since featuring in their U-18 side in 2017. But all this time, he was never anything more than a backup player waiting in the wings. It’s a fresh start for both the Malayali wingers and a golden opportunity to make a name at a club which is also on a new venture.
