Viacom18’s JioCinema and Sports18 Secure Indian Super League Rights: A Game-Changing Media Partnership for ISL
The Indian Super League (ISL) has found its new broadcasting home for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons in Viacom18 Media Pvt. Ltd. Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL), the entity overseeing the ISL, revealed this significant development.
Viacom18’s acquisition of the ISL broadcasting rights heralds a new era, following a decade-long agreement between FSDL and Star Sports. The two-year deal runs from September 1, 2023, to June 15, 2025, with an option for a three-year extension until June 15, 2028.
The ISL has officially announced that the upcoming season will kick off on September 21, with the inaugural match taking place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi, featuring Kerala Blasters and Bengaluru FC.
FSDL declined AIFF’s request to postpone the season’s start, an essential point to consider in the ISL’s upcoming journey.
