Vignesh Dakshinamurthy joins Hyderabad FC as a part of the Akash Mishra swap deal

The club made the official announcement on Monday, confirming the signing of defender Vignesh Dakshinamurthy from 2022-23 League Shield winners Mumbai City FC. While the transfer fee remains undisclosed, Dakshinamurthy has committed to a four-year deal, becoming the first new signing for Hyderabad FC ahead of the highly anticipated 2023-24 season

Hailing from Srirampura, defender Vignesh Dakshinamurthy began his football journey with Ozone FC in Bengaluru. However, his talent quickly caught the attention of Mumbai City FC, who signed him in 2018, propelling him into top-flight football at a young age.

Vignesh Dakshinamurthy joined Mumbai City FC in September 2018, following his impressive displays in the 2018 SAFF Championship. The left-back made his debut on February 1, 2019, in a home match against FC Goa. In the 2020-21 season, he emerged as a key player, featuring in all but one game as Mumbai City secured a remarkable ‘double,’ winning both the ISL League Shield and the ISL Trophy.

Vignesh Dakshinamurthy’s influence on the Mumbai City FC squad remained strong as he established himself as a key fixture in the starting XI. He represented the club in the prestigious 2022 AFC Champions League and played a crucial role in their record-breaking 2022-23 ISL League title victory. With 60 appearances over five seasons, Vignesh showcased his skill with two spectacular goals against Hyderabad FC (2020-21) and Chennaiyin FC (2022-23).
