Ardent Mohun Bagan fans were in numbers to welcome Jason Cummings, Armando Sadiku, and Anirudh Thapa
It was raining in Kolkata but the Mohun Bagan fans didn’t let it calm down the sensation they had to welcome the big-name signings their mother club has made. On a rainy Wednesday, fans in thousands gathered with raincoats and umbrellas at the Mohun Bagan ground to welcome Jason Cummings, Armando Sadiku, and Anirudh Thapa.
In what was another piece of history created by Mohun Bagan, this was the first time in Indian Football history that a club has organized a public presentation for its new signings. The presentation took place during the half-time break of the Calcutta Football League match going on between them and Kalighat. The event was streamed on Insports, where one can view all the CFL games. Speaking of which, Bagan secured a draw and sit third on the table with a game in hand. First-team head coach Juan Ferrando was also in attendance.
The trio, alongside the fans, roared ‘Joy Mohun Bagan’ throughout the presentation. The enthusiasm of the mariners went through the roof both on and off the field as the official stream reportedly crashed during the event. The new jersey also got its first appearance on the field.
It has been a very eventful time for the Mariners. At first the official declaration of the removal of ATK, then the new jersey for the new season. With which they go back to the classic halves from the middle part of the previous century. The club will be celebrating Mohun Bagan Day on July 30. Of which the preparations are already underway.
Sahal Abdul Samad was enjoying his holidays with his wife. He was pictured landing in Kolkata and heading to his hotel room. He is expected to join the squad soon.
